Can someone tell me where I can have a keyboard/desk built like this?

    http://www.doepfer.de/Controller_Casebolt.htm

I tried contacting them, but haven't heard anything back. I am almost tempted to take a Studioloic SL 990 (removing the keybed and pitch/mod wheel, etc.) and having a carpenter build it into a desk like this (except I want the pitch & mod wheel mounted somewhere. I wonder how complicated this would be. It doesn't seem like it would be THAT difficult. I was wondering if someone here on the forum has done something like this.

Studio desk solutions are surprisingly hard to find!

Even with all the "mainstream" options I've had a difficult time finding a good solution. I'm currently working with KK Audio to see if they can accomplish something similar to this but with more rack space. Why there are so few quality solutions for keyboard workstations out there escapes me.

Please keep us posted! I'd love to know what you end up going with.

I'm only 41, but have had military injuries many years ago that leave me in some pretty good pain, hence studio ergonomics are VERY important to me.

Check out Mr. Zimmers setup: http://stuckincustoms.smugmug.com/Po...86_cH2iS-XL-LB

    Doesn't that look REAL cozy.

I'd say save some money and go to IKEA (if you have one nearby of course)

In my little studio I took my Dopefer LMK2+ and mounted it on IKEA filing cabinet draw runners under the IKEA desk so it slides in and out. Before that I had it on a wheel chassis also from you guessed it IKEA. Also the TV mounting brackets make great speaker stands

    Have a look...

Here's a link to one product like that:

and since you are in the US, there are also companies there like Argosy and Omnirax (http://www.omnirax.com/index.php/DisplayCategory/0-11) who make a variety of tables and support furniture for musicians.

I just got a custom desk from KK Audio in L.A. It's REALLY nice, and was money well-spent. The cost is the same, sometimes slightly higher, than buying through the studio furniture retailers - kinda depends on what you order and just how "custom" is needs to be - but check 'em out:

They have some great options. I'm *loving* mine -- I got the one in the photo to the left of "This Custom Modular Desk Workstation....."

if i lived near you i'd build one for you.

you can probably go to a local cabinet shop and show them some pictures. you can also contact an interior designer (not decorator) - they are the best.

I took an old computer desk, got out my welder and cut it down to the proper height, then built a shelf on top for various interfaces, monitor controller, etc. I'm sure you could find a weld shop to do something similar for not much $$$.

Not nearly as cool looking, but functionally about the same, I think. And best of all, one doesn't have to disassemble anything.

Thanks Bela! I got my chest smashed in via an equipment mishap while serving in the Gulf-war I back in 1991. Luckily I saw no combat, though. The true hero's are the soldiers who are risking their lives in this newer, even more dangerous Gulf mission. Thank you to ALL soldiers who have served their respective nations in the name of freedom!
