Spectrasonics Trilian: How to get realistic 'Adam Clayton' basslines out of it?

I want to create a bassline which is effectively the root note of the chord played on 8th notes (think Adam Clayton in With or Without You) I've tried using Sustain 2 mode but it still doesn't sound natural. Any ideas how to get this sound?
    Thanks,
    Hubie

Just flying through with no time to check with Trilian, but have you ensured that your 8th notes are full length 8th notes in your sequencer (so that there is absolutely no gap before each trigger).

Just a thought - might not even need the sustain mode then..

Sorry if I misinterpret your problem!

make sure to select a bass sound that uses round robins and has the right basic sound.
