    Good vibraphone instrument?

    Hi!

I'm looking for a good vibraphone instrument, like used often in detective films. I've been using the vibraphone found in Garritan JABB and it sounds really nice, but it has a really short decay and can't really do long slowly decaying sounds (you will hear a quick fade-out quite quickly on each note).

    So:
-adjustable amount of vibrato (like in JABB)
    -long sustain tails

    Suggestions?

You could start by checking out the Vibes addition to Pianoteq. It's definitely worth your consideration.
    Go here: http://www.pianoteq.com/commercial_addons#celeste
    and scroll down.

    I also like Cool Vibes.

I believe that the vibraphone is muted in JABB if you don't use the sustain pedal. Trying using the sustain pedal for the full decay.

Yea... I don't mean the mute, but the sustain tail just isn't that long. It has a quite violent fade-out after some seconds if you listen to it.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, I tried to find demos on the Cool Vibes, but the website/store doesn't seem to be that functional anymore and the demo links don't work.

It's probably a little excessive seeing as you only seem to be looking for a vibraphone, but EWQLSO has a vibraphone that I've been very happy with.

Not sure why that is...perhaps they are redoing the web site or something. ArtVista still seems to be in business this year. Perhaps try again in a few days? Some of the demos are quite good if you can eventually retrieve them.

I went to Hans' (Art Vista) studio and played his vibes... and they sound AWESOME!! And he also recorded the vibes with the vibrato motor on... and they are in sync when playing multiple notes... amazing..

    My 2 cents.
