In theory there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is.

Clever! A gentleman who was living on the street shared another method with some friends and I a few years back (albiet less glamorous/sanitary). His technique was to find a stick, and simply push the cork into the bottle. Of course, if one wanted to re-seal the bottle in a straightforward way, then an extra cork or some duct tape would need to be found.
"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away." – Henry Thoreau

Ha! Now the stick method I've used myself - Not quite as elegant as the shoe trick. This is like magic. I wonder if you have to find a shoe like in the vid? Looks like some expensive footwear!

Il faut hurler avec les loups! N'est pas?

There is a video on YouTube of a guy doing this by hitting the end of the bottle against a tree trunk - no shoe. He wraps the bottle in a towel (in case it breaks, I think):

OK, opening with a shoe, but don't expect me drinking from that same shoe. It may have some unexpected flavour.....
