Joey, there may be a bit of confusion there about what Symphobia is and what it contains, so I've provided the short list of articulations from the PS web site for you below. Note that there are no patches named French Horn(s). It appears you may be looking for a more traditional horn or orchestral library, which Symphobia is not. Software like Epic Horns or EWQL Symphonic Orchestra, for example, are quite different products than S1 or S2. Anyway, have a look at the list and perhaps it will be clearer?

Thanks for the list, Yes it is clearer, and of course Symphobia is a different animal to a dedicated horn library like Epic Horns. However I was referring directly in comparison to the 8 horn patch, the legato horn bone ensemble patch and the legato solo horn patch. I still wonder how those horn patches in Symphobia compare to the Epic horns for anyone that's played with them.

Thanks for the info so far guys!

    Hi Joey,

I agree with Kieth on this one. Epic horns if you're looking for the best horns. I just got Sym 2 a couple of days ago and I cant say I've given it enough time yet but still, I did check out the 8 Fr horns. They're good, not great IMO.

    Re: Symphobia 2 is comming

I wouldn't have bought either Symphobia if I didn't already have VSL Vienna SE and EWQLSO (*and HAlion Symphony Orchestra, and LASS, and MOTU S.I. etc etc) because it occupies a very specific purpose.

That said, the legatos are very nice and sound very convincing. There's a bit of a lag on them mind you in terms of their responsiveness that I chalk up to the script in Kontakt. But it's not a biggie.

Funny enough, I'm having a harder time just throwing stuff out with S2 as opposed to S1. It sounds very very good but I almost get too distracted with every subsequent patch since each one gives me a new idea.

I'm also used to working more traditionally of late (VSL VI Pro has been occupying my time) so it's hard to shift back to this way of making music where a lot if already done for the composer. I don't mind the doubling per se but I do hope Project SAM comes up with more Multis and patches in subsequent updates as I find the preset list kinda pales to S1 which has so many more.... But I am totally glad I own both, make no mistake.

---I do remember reading somewhere on their web site that there will indeed be more multis for S2 available in the future. I expect they had to balance the time required to create them with the need to get the product to market. I suspect there may be a little update or patch in the near future as well.

Is there another Epic Horns lib I don't know about? I thought EH was only 95 Euros, which doesn't sound THAT expensive. http://vsl.co.at/en/211/496/816/847/847.htm

Yeah, I have the Horizon Series Epic Horns. That was pretty expensive, I don't remember how much. It also has more articulations.

    Re: Symphobia 2 is comming

Remember this is in my opinion: After having Sym 2 for almost a week, I'm liking it less and less. Everything is okay sounding. But I have to say I was expecting more. I'm not that into the effects which is I guess a big draw for them. The effects are stagnent. Can't really do anything but play one key and take what you get. I think what the hook for me was the interface. Much better the Sym 1 because of the ks functions. Problem is the sounds on the legato patches are midi sounding, and the other patches are very limited, articulation wise.
I wish someone would have wrote this before I bought it. I wouldv'e really waited but everyone had all positive feedback. This is my opinion, take it or leave it. I don't want to argue about it or defened my position.
