Topic: Symphobia 2 is comming

    Re: Symphobia 2 is comming

The interesting thing about sample developers is the spectrum of pricing over the years. Recently IK had a massive sale, EW is always is doing a 2 for 1 and NI's Komplete just seems like a no-brainer considering all you get and the new reduced price. My point earlier is that these are the companies that are getting my money. I just soent $200 upgrading to Komplete 7 and will be able to make a ton of music with that package. I only had to spend $200 because of the loyalty discount coming up from Komplete 6. I understand that Symphobia 2 is completely new material but it's not a radically differnet instrument than Symphobia 1. (they both focus on orchetral sounds and fx)

It would be interesting to see if they lowered the price of each package to say $500, maybe both for $900. I'm betting they would be richer making it up on sheer volume.

Perhaps they don't want to make it up in Volume. Maybe they are happy with the current selling rate of their software and they place a bigger value on fewer users, which means less saturation of their product - so you don't hear it on every tv show that airs. Maybe to ProjectSam and their clients, it's more important that very few people use their software, kind of an exclusive club so to speak. I don't know that everything comes down to sheer number of units sold.

I don't yet have Symphobia, but it is on my short list. And if you look to the VSL Cube, the standard edition is $3000+ and the full edition is $7500.

    Just my 2 cents.

Symphobia1 has top quality samples, it's an ultra time-saver above any other product and the effects alone (for me) worth the price.

The same is for Symphobia2. It's biggest news (again, for me ) are true legato ( recorded as usual with the same SAM approach, with different instruments at the same time) and the new effects that are more specific than in Sy1.

These products are developed -expecially- with cinema (and tv and games) in mind.
So they are mainly directed to pro users. (or rich hobbists... as someone else said)
We all know that now even hobbists can afford pro-sample libraries, but i think mainly to use them in composing songs/pieces of music (excuse me for my poor english, i hope you understand what i mean).
If someone really "needs" Symphobia (1 and 2) i'm sure he can buy it (and get the money back with just one work).

    ciao!

Just felt like adding my vote to the disappointed Symphobia 1 owners who would have appreciated a special discount...not bitching or moaning or anything, and yes, it does help get gigs, but there are car, house, tuition payments...upgrades for the sequencer and computers that run Symphobia, libraries that covers what Symphobia doesn't (which is a lot).

Sorry, don't wanna put a damper on what should be real good news.

But Sergievsky, it's a completely new product. The same in name only.

If you bought a Project Sam table a couple of years ago, would you now expect a discount for a Project Sam sofa?

We've been spoilt by the amazing offers Spectrasonics offers its existing customers with each new release, but perhaps we should think of that as the exception rather than the norm.

Yeah you're probably right. But that's also why I own everything Spectrasonics offered, and will no doubt be among the first in line for whatever else they will offer in the future. But I do understand sampling orchestras is different, and do understand ProjectSam has to recoup their investment. I guess it's just a little depressing that all that understanding doesn't help me come up with the extra thousand bucks to buy it as soon as it comes out! After just purchasing NI Komplete 7 and orangetree guitar (thanks to this awful forum!) its just hard to justify spending another grand , especially after upgrading memory and hard drives on both my laptops and desktops to accomodate these ilbraries.

But spend I will! If it's a good product, then it should be worth saving up for...though it might take a couple of years

But in a couple of years, there'll be Symphobia 3 and then what will you do?

Actually, we'll all be creating music (and making tea/going to the gym/giving birth) on our mobile phones by then, so at least you won't have the expense of hard drive/memory upgrades eating into your bank balance.

    Desktop? Laptop? SO 2010!

You must be a really sorry composer if you're worried that too many people will have the same product as you. I'd be disappointed with PS if they were encouraging that sort of lameness. It's probably just that they saw how much they made on S1, so they planned out how much to spend on S2 and what price they could sell it at to make the most money. Nothing wrong with that.

The original Symphobia still inspires me every time I fire it up. I've pre ordered S2 even though the existing demos are pretty limited for differentiating from the original. But PS is one of the few companies I would order from and trust that what I will get in September will knock my socks off.
