    First Anniversary

    Hi all!

I've been gone for a while. I wanted to share an important milestone I have reached. One year ago today, I decided to wander down the path of sobriety. Yeah, a year without booze. I am glad I quit and my life is much better without it. Now, if I could just stop howling at the moon.

Congratulations and stay the course! Howling at the moon is a gift. Keep at it!

Congratulations. I'm not a drinker myself, and one of the reasons is that I've always felt deeply sorry for drunk people. It's not usual, I know, but loss of control is something that scares me, in myself and in others. That, and the fact that alcohol is addictive and damaging. So I'm very glad for you that you have come this far, and have the courage to say so openly. You have my admiration.

    Congratulations Bill,

I'm sure your public confession will help you stay on the straight and narrow.

I've done my share or drinking too much at times ... I'm much more moderate now though I dare say alchohol isn't necessary in anyone's life.

(Though if you do have any unwanted stocks you're selling off cheap ...)

    Re: First Anniversary

Thanks guys for the congrats and encouragement. Much appreciated. My intent in posting this was not to say "look, see what I've done." Rather (and I say this with humility) I hope that someone might see this and be inspired to take the first step towards kicking an addiction, whatever it might be. For me, the first step was realizing that my addiction was dragging me to an early death and then having the courage to go bed sober. I discovered that turning in sober was alright. And throwing money away for booze was a bad thing. Problem is, the money I saved on booze I now pump into Starbucks. Ah geez, another addiction, LOL.

Well, I know that is an accomplishment. Having made it this far, the rest of the way will surely be easier. Motivation is the key, and you have that. As for coffee, that is certainly healthier than Bourbon. I would recommend staying away from Kopi Luwak. For me, French or Italian roast is great.
