    a votre sante, michel!
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is.

    Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you!

I've been gone all day, which is why it's taken so long for me to answer.

I had a great early supper with my better half, my mom and my brother and this phenomenal steakhouse. Mmmmmmmmmmm.... incredible steak, in a 3-peppercorn sauce. No room for dessert!!!!

As for new music, well, I'm very slowly working on a new piece. It will be the final of my "sonatas for strings". This last one is for contrabass. It's slow going, because I'm trying a new tack with my approach to the form and content.

I've been using the Authorized Steinway for the accompaniment. It sounds wonderful (although, I do have a bit more trouble balancing the volume than with the GPO Steinway).

Thanks again for the burfday wishes!

I'm late to the crowd, but I'll add a "Happy!".

BTW, don't bother writing an Octobass sonata. No harmonics, limited double stops, and nobody could hear the low notes anyway.

well, the whole purpose of writing all these different string sonatas was to get as much music available to as many musicians as possible... so, until the "octobass" becomes a common instrument, in need of new repertoire, well, I won't be writing for it unless someone specifically asks me to.

now my next stage of composition (once the contrabass sonata is finished) is starting work on a set of sonatas/sonatinas for woodwinds, then brass.

Glad your day was a fine one. Now, here's hoping the remaining 364 days are just as good! Then, do it all over again.
