That's right. G5 is the last note with dampers on the concert D we recorded. I would assume all modern Ds are the same though I'm not certain. I do know that the point where the dampers end is different on different pianos models and for different makers. For example when I checked a B, the last note with dampers was definitely lower on the scale - on E5 if I recall correctly.
