    Finale Garritan Contest Entry

Okay, I get the ball rolling. Randy thought it would be nice to post our Finale/Garritan Contest entries for all on the forum to hear. Though I didn't win, I think my piece is worth the listen and I am proud of it as I am with the other members of our forum who participated. I might add that I played the oboe and clarinet parts on my AKAI EWI using the Garritan Sounds that come with it.

Without further ado, I give you:

    Rich:

It's difficult to write a piece for a specified time limit; especially one for such a short period as 1m30s. Your piece was very well done and really identified with its title.

At a later date, may the SUN SET on your music......

Yaaah, Rich - Thanks for starting the thread. I've gotten hung up helping out with some techno issues - but I'll be back to add my entry on this thread. EDIT: Oh - this thread says "Contest Entry," singular - That works, let's just each have our own thread then. Gotta do mine later still!

Really like your piece, Rich. Obviously could have been in the top 10.

Nice job on the tune Rich. A side effect of the contest is that there will be a bunch of challenge posts in the forum!

    Tom,

This is a very nice piece. I assume you had only part of it sent in for the contest. You really managed to hide the thematic material that was given. I thought I heard some of the intervalic relationships but it wasn't obvious like most of the other pieces that I listened to in the competition (including mine). I applaud you on a very nice piece of music with a solid sound.

Thanks for the comments. A challenge? What is a challenge? Did we ever do challenges here?

I am so very embarrassed. The theme you heard was incorrectly labeled. You were hearing a dedicatory piece written for a local client. I have changed the link and you can now hear the correct one for the contest.

    Again, my apologies
