An ear opener!!! All myths to the bin, please.

About 58 minutes of video info. Presentation about sound perception, myths, lies, sheer commercial interests, etc..... I enjoyed this and purchased Randy's keyboard........ oh, those days with the Atari Serious, it is rather interesting.

I have only watched half of this but it really does bring out some significant points on how people hear and/or perceive what they hear. This is very interesting and I will have to watch the whole presentation. Thanks, Raymond, for posting this video.

Just started this video - sounds very interesting. I will watch it all.
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is.

That's an interesting point he makes about mixing from 16-bit sources...

... which reminds me of a comment made by a producer of sample libraries once (I don't remember where it was or which library; this was some time ago), in response to a question on why they were offering 24-bit samples, and they basically said, "because others are starting to market it, and people are starting to demand it, even if it doesn't really make a difference..."

I just got Ethan's new book, "the Audio Expert" on Saturday. I've begun to work through it and it is very informative indeed. No nonsense.

He actually lives about a mile from me. I ran into hime in Costco a few weeks back. In addition to being really knowledgeable in the audio world (among others; programming, cello, etc) he's a really nice guy.
