I (sort of) solved the problem I had earlier, where GSt was stuck at 64 voices. I did a clean reinstall of Win98 (1st ed.), and in that setup I can set voices to 160 and it stays after a reboot.
Trouble is, my polyphony still isn\'t very high - 60 seems to be about the practical limit (it\'s run as high as 80, but with voices dropping out all over the place). I ran a benchmark on my system, and memory seemed to be *really slow*, and the FAQ for the benchmarking program says that the architecture of the AMD K6-2 is to blame.
So - has anybody been able to get good polyphony with GSt using a K6-2?
