    Re: A Fugue in Bb

    Hello Guys ...

This has been such a wonderful thread!

1st, Mabry, posting your piece which, even if you never developed it any further, was still very enjoyable to hear. Then, opening it up for comments and receiving a mini-tutorial from Michel and Jay ... what a great way for anyone who peeked in to learn more about contrapuntal composition. Really excellent comments!

Many thanks to Michel and Jay for sharing your well-developed knowledge. And to Mabry too for putting your composition under a microscope for all of us to enjoy ... and learn from.

    Regards,

    Frank

Michel et al. have adequately covered the technicals (thank you).

Regardless of targets and misses, a listenable piece worth hearing!

I'm embarking on another attempt to write a fugue, so in preparation for that, I came over here to print out all the advice I've received on this thread and I noticed your kind words (and also those of Frank and symphonynumbertwo). So thanks, guys, it's really helpful and I appreciate it!

--Good news, Mabry - This really has been quite a thread, one of those rare "class room" threads. I really had nothing to contribute to the conversation, so just listened to the conversation unfold. I did listen to the music and enjoyed it. Now I'm glad to see you're at work writing a fugue - Look forward to seeing you put it up.
