    Re: Steinway disappeared?

    Hi all,

Gary and I have been talking about this and the decision was made to quietly sunset the Authorized Steinway product. It's been a fantastic library, however we think its time has come in its current state.

Users who have already purchased this library will still be able to download the installer via their account (either on Garritan.com or from MakeMusic.com when the transition is made) and download the keycard to be able to activate the product.

Are we done with pianos? Absolutely not .

Well, now we know. Glad I asked. I sure love the piano (just used it for a composition competition) and can't imagine not being without it, though I was looking forward to eventually upgrading to the Pro version. Thanks for the clarification, Justin.

The 32 bit ARIA .dll file and the 64 bit ARIA .dll file both need to be placed appropriately on your computer e.g. the VST folder(s) for your music programs.

Also at the Garritan.com site, under the regular Downloads tab, products you have purchased are available for re-downloading if you need them.

Thanks, Randy. I forgot all about it, but I installed the newer ARIA engine last year. I can instantiate it no prob in Cubase 6.5 (on OSX) but how do I open the Steinway Basic in it?

    Never mind. Got it.

AH - good - I came here to reply, now I see your update. OK, so you're off in running. Good deal.

Just to be clear, there's no change to support and in fact a v1.05 update is finished and awaiting synchronized release with our other products.
The Steinway D came to end of life for a first piano version, and will be followed by the newer piano work that we've been doing - some of which we've talked about on the forum, and some of which we haven't

I remember a couple of years ago now when there was the exciting string of posts about sampling a piano at the Lucas Ranch. I was surprised a new piano didn't emerge from those sampling sessions which sounded like they were being conducted so excellently. Maybe what's coming up will be from that!

Is that update for both Pro and Basic?

Trying to wrap my head around how Authorized Steinway will be succeeded by this newer piano VSTi and maybe sound better. Failing.

(Is it going to be another Steinway? The sound on Authorized Steinway was superlative as it was.)
