Virus: Has anyone run into a virus called: Rapid Blaster?
General Info: RapidBlaster runs as a task at Windows startup. It downloads advertising from the Internet and displays it periodically.
RapidBlaster also sends what seems to be a unique ID to its controlling servers whenever it requests information (but especially when it requests a new path/filename to \"morph\" to). This ID seems to contain the local owner\'s name, stored on your PC, as well as other information.
In English… this thing will just pop up ads of every sort at random.
I am always connected. No matter what I am doing. Bang! Ads.
TO KILL THIS:
Run Regedit. Search for rb32. Delete all mention.
C:/ programs/rb32 and delete. You must perform the Regedit first or rb32 will not go to the recycle bin.
Now for the funny part:
As I said, this virus will pop up ads at random and most of the adds are well, you know
So, the wife and I have our house on the market and last night we left so the realtor could show the house. I forget to turn my PC off and when I go back (an hour later)
sure enough... there was 6 ads on the screen. From “enlargement” too “19 years old and sexy”.
The realtor had a great time explaining that away to the “potential” buyers.
Hehehe. There is a freeware program called Adaware by Lavasoft that will block spyware, adware etc from installing.
Also, if you guys are getting lots of emails for penis enlargement, viagra, etc, make sure your email address is not listed on your website as text. Either make it an image, make a feedback form or list your address as; me \"at\" here.com
