For non-Bach lovers here's another Baroque piece.

This one was completed in both rehearsal and backing track versions.

It has been used 'live' on several occasions and been well received (more for the singer than the song).

Händels' (so-called) Largo, is actually marked larghetto, which is how I've realised it.
    It has a little 'pace'.
The proper name is Ombra mai fu.

    Two versions, with

    and without

    the flute 'voice'.

    All GPO4 again.

    John.

Ah, another elegantly realized classic from SysExJohn. Having you share your music here is one of the best things this Festival has brought about. Beautiful work, John - Thank you.

Yay, always good to hear some Handel.

Only thing that comes to mind is the flute could probably use a bit more expressiveness, but I would hazard a guess that the 'backing track' has been the main focus rather than the flute performance.

    Thanks for posting it!

Really nice piece. The GPO4 solo flute is truly amazing. A bit of CC1 added to it would make the emotive quality all the better (it is already pretty good).

    Thanks for posting.

Thank you all for your comments.

Yes, you're quite right, the backing track has all the focus.
The piece is never played, except in rehearsal or, more properly practise, with the flute.

I am, quite frankly, staggered how good the flute sounds without ANY but the initial cc#11 entered.
It's one of the things that keeps bringing me back to GPO4.
Kudos to Gary Garritan and his team for that.

I shall, when the time allows, revisit it with a view to adding some expression to the vocal line.

Thank you for taking the time to comment.
    Kind regards,
    John.
