Mike,

Again, great notes but a cold and bitting sound.
And the swells are very powerful.

Don\'t get me wrong. KH is kicking *** with his samples, no doubt. I guess I am looking for a more woody, rounder, dark tone. Perhaps it\'s on its way via KH.

Really cool notes, Mike.

Listen to the violin sample I sent. Hear what I mean?

Yeah, I see what you\'re looking for now, that old-timey folk sound, very cool. I don\'t think that KH would be the best choice in that case, it\'s got way to much bite for that kinda thing, as you said. I\'m not sure which one I\'d pick for that, or for that matter if there\'s anything like that out there. I\'ve heard something in a similiar vein off of the Celtic Instruments demo, but it was a fiddle.

Good luck

Thanks again... I\'ll go get it out.

Is that BIGFISHAUDIO? Donnie\'s work?

For the best cello variety, I would suggest the cello from Dan Dean solo strings, and the X-sample volumes. One volume has solo strings which contain pizz, spicc, and FX. The other volume has cello playing vibrato (three velocity levels too: f, mf, p).

I have the beta violin from Kirk Hunter, and I love it! It\'s the best violin that I have worked with.

I have the London Solo Strings on order, but I have no idea when they ship.

Re: Can of Worms? Solo Strings

definitely not the KH one going off the demo download IMO

its not \"woody\" sounding enough for what you\'re after. (or me in terms of personal taste)

I dont remember a LSS solo violins demo with sustains either (just a mix of instruments), it may be closer.

DD\'s got a bit of wood sound in it too, but would take some editing to get that moving legato sound, and again doesn\'t have many dynamics, but for this sound it might be enough. (again with editing).

I picked up a couple of celtic CD\'s from that I never loaded (they were clearance and I had some extra points), I\'ll see whats on it soon, if anything at all. I believe its mostly loops tho, maybe some multis.

Guys,

Let me just take a second to thank you.
Really. It means alot and I always need help

I feel sooooo much better that I had the chance to let you guys hear what I have been struglin\'
with to explain.

Thanks again

I have Complete Celtic audio. It\'s all performace files and hard to work with IMO.

The female vocal is annoying at best. LOL

<font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Arial\">It\'s going to be in there. The bulk of the patches that are currently shipping are more \"classical\" in sound. However, I recorded quite a bit of more \"gentle\" stuff and am including it in as well.

Kirk,

You are the man! I can\'t wait to hear them. I love the violin you have made, don\'t get me wrong... it\'s just that I have been looking for the above tone forever. Let me hear it ASAP.

Thanks
Frank

Re: Can of Worms? Solo Strings

Hi,

If it may be of interest, here are a couple of mp3 examples I produced last year using the Dan Dean solo violin samples played in real time. The second example contains two phrases, each first played loudly then softer.
