Re: EW/QL Symphony Orchestra ARTICULATIONS

Re: EW/QL Symphony Orchestra ARTICULATIONS

Thanks Nick.

I\'m so happy to see that you have included several variations of vibratos in strings...
Very smart, and looks promissing.
Cant wait to hear it..
Is there any theatrical trailer right now where we could hear QLSO in action?

Re: EW/QL Symphony Orchestra ARTICULATIONS

EWQLSO is in some Terminator spots, but I did them using the crippled Namm version of the library. So I think I\'ll wait till I have some more revealing demos. The cues sounds great but they are action and have stormdrum playing in the background, so they are not good first demos to really show off the library. Demos will come soon.

-No solo string pizz.

Re: EW/QL Symphony Orchestra ARTICULATIONS

Great list!

While you are pondering about those demos, the sampling world is yet to nail one particular thing:

Four trumpets doing the double/triple tounging fan-fare thing! Like in John Williams\' \"Flag Parade\" from Espisode I. It\'s 4 trumpets in close harmony playing block major chords with the fifth in the lowest and highest voice, moving the chord up and down in paralel motion doing lots of snappy tripplet stacato stuff. (FF, of course!)

This sounds unbelievibly lame with last generation\'s samples, and VSL is yet to show what it\'s made of in this particular respect. Nail that one, Nick!!

Re: EW/QL Symphony Orchestra ARTICULATIONS

Looks very extensive, Nick! Now of course you gotta be prepared to read all the wishes from people

Obviously some corners were cut, though, but in general it doesn\'t look too severe, with a few exceptions.

I\'m just wondering why there aren\'t any octave runs for piccolo and flute

Are all samples chromatic for all articulations?
I know that you were on tight time schedules with the orchestra

And are there FF(F)\'s for trumpets and strings, or did you choose not to record that dynamic for any particular reason?

Why no spiccato and staccato (only martele) for strings?

I\'m also surprised to see the Bassoon being left behind with only one velocity layer and not an ensemble of 2 or 3.

Having said that, though I think it is a magnificient list and I can\'t wait to hear it
I did some searches online for that Terminator 3 spot but I couldn\'t find any.

Re: EW/QL Symphony Orchestra ARTICULATIONS

Thanks Alex, but I was under the impression that Nick meant a TV spot and not the actual commercial trailer?

Anyway, lets not drift off topic here

Re: EW/QL Symphony Orchestra ARTICULATIONS

Nick looks very cool - I especially like the different variations of vibrato on strings you did - seems very thoughtful!

One thing I dont seen on the list, which might not be THAT important, is trumpet ensemble with vibrato?
